Homemade papaya and blackberry ice-cream

I counted 14 ingredients on the nutrition facts label on a store-bought ice cream, and I am sure this number does not account for all ingredients. I also checked many labels and I found out corn syrup is one of the main ingredients found on store ice-cream. That is when I said NO MORE! this is when my family and I decided to start making them. We are not vegetarian, we’re not crazy about diets at all, but we’ve always made sure the breakfast cereals we get do not have corn syrup, (read here why corn syrup is so bad for you). Our homemade recipe calls for white cane sugar, but it can be easily replaced with any sweetener you would like.

Enjoy a fresh healthy homemade ice-cream!


1 cup of milk or half and half

2 cups of whipping cream or more if needed. You might need more if you add a large amount of fruit.

1 tsp. of vanilla extract

¾ to 1 cups of white cane sure (more if you like, it’s your choice) You can also substitute white sugar for healthier options

For the papaya ice cream: 2 cups of papaya

For the blackberry ice cream: 1 ½ cups of blackberries


1. Mix all ingredients in a blender including the fruit.

2. Pour mix into the ice-cream machine.

3. Ready! Freeze before serving if you like the consistency harder
